Infiniti QX50: Premiere of the Midsize SUV at NAIAS

With the Infiniti QX50, the Japanese introduce a series-ready concept car. The Nissan subsidiary will present the Midsize SUV for the first time at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which will take place from 8 to 22 January 2017 in Detroit. The highlights will be semi-automated driving and a strong but economical petrol engine.

In a few days, the Japanese will present the Infiniti QX50 Concept a series-series study for a Midsize SUV. The sharp headlights flank the powerful, trapezoidal radiator grille. A flat roof line and the coupéhaft, rear-facing roof make the SUV from Far East powerful and noble. The design language is therefore also referred to by the makers as "Powerful Elegance".

A lot of high-tech will be placed under the sheet metal. The car is, for example, equipped for semi-automated driving and can thus keep the track on the motorway with the aid of an electronic co-driver or follow the preceding vehicle independently in stop-and-go traffic. The drive is also to be innovative, as the new two-liter turbofan comes with variable compression. The four-cylinder engine known as VCT should then be as powerful as a V6 with 272 hp and a maximum of 390 Nm, but nevertheless be as efficient as a diesel engine. Market launch in the US is expected to be in the course of this year. However, when the QX50 will fit into the gap between QX30 and QX70, it is still completely unknown.
