The South Koreans will now have two more models as a plug-in hybrid: Kia Optima Sportwagon and Niro.
The Asians are now proceeding consistently to put more emphasis on environmentally friendly drives. With the Kia Optima Sportwagon and Niro, at the end of August, two further model variants will be available as a plug-in hybrid. The Optima sedan has been offered as a part-time passenger since September 2016 - now also the Kombi. As with the stepped tail variant, the freighter also uses the combination of a 2-liter petrol engine with 156 hp and a 68 hp electric motor. The resulting 205 hp system power is distributed via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The electrically-amplified combi travels approximately 62 kilometers in a purely electrically powered manner. The battery can be recharged to 100% in a normal household socket in 190 minutes. The combined average consumption is only 1.4 liters. The prices for the combi with electric motor start at 41.940 euros.
At the end of August, the hybrid model Niro is also supplied with a plug-in version. Here it brings the combination of a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 105 hp and a 61 hp strong electric motor to a total output of 141 hp. The purely electric range is 58 kilometers and the average consumption is 1.3 liters. The prices for this new model variant are not yet known.
