2018 Nissan LEAF Finally Unveiled

We had been waiting for it for a while. After all, it is the most sold electric car on the planet! With more than 280,000 cars sold around the globe and 5,400 cars in Canada since its launch in 2010, LEAF has successfully penetrated a car segment where competition is high and error is not allowed.

At an event in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Nissan LEAF 2018 was unveiled with great pomp. We were presented with a completely redesigned model and equipped with new technologies. It now offers the consumer more power, an approximate range of 241 kilometers and some of the most anticipated technologies of the year for the manufacturer: the e-Pedal and the ProPilot Assist.

The e-Pedal is a technology that puts forward a single pedal. When the driver presses the accelerator, the car gains momentum, but when it releases, the car will brake by the friction force of the energy recovery system. And in terms of dry braking, the car will react quickly with a set of sensors placed around its body, making the LEAF a little more self-contained.

The ProPilot Assist is an assisted driving system, similar to that found in many vehicles. Nissan believes that this technology will reduce the hassle of acceleration, braking and steering when the vehicle is in a straight line. It is therefore described as a "no-hands" driving system rather than a driver assistance system. It is intended for road users who face a monster traffic every morning. With such technology, your hands are less necessary to driving in this kind of situation.

In short, the 2018 LEAF, which will retail from $ 35,998 before transportation and preparation costs and government rebates, brings a fresh look to the model that had not undergone any overhaul in recent years. In addition, some major technological additions have been made, notably to the assisted driving system. In terms of autonomy, the manufacturer ensures that a LEAF version with a more powerful engine and a larger capacity battery will be available in 2019. In the meantime, you will have to settle for some 241 km of autonomy , which is not all that bad!
