Even before its premiere next week at the Los Angeles Motor Show (1-10 December 2017), the new Infiniti QX50 has now been unveiled, with first photos of the Midsize SUV with front engine and front-wheel drive released. A few details have the developers tell us: So it comes with the Toyota offshoot to a motor revolution thanks to variable compression.
The new Infiniti QX50 was supposed to celebrate its premiere at the Los Angeles Motor Show next week, but the Japanese apparently had a slightly different plan and were even pulling the cloth off the SUV itself. Thus, we can give you today already a first look at the 4.69 meter long compact SUV. If we look at the designs for the design study by comparison, we find hardly any major changes. Only the side air intakes have shrunk slightly and the underrun protection on the front is not quite so brute designed in the new production model as on the concept car.
This then the compression is adapted to the different needs. This is to allow a variable compression in the engine compartment with the either a high efficiency or a higher power and a higher torque should be possible. Despite its 272 hp and 380 Nm of maximum torque, the new two-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine is about one third less fuel than the comparable 6-cylinder QX50. In addition, the new SUV has been equipped with an "autonomous-driving" technology package, which under the name ProPilot summarizes all assistance systems that are to help the driver to accelerate, brake and steer on single-lane roads.
