Opel Insignia GSi: a Great Name Returns

The series of sporty GSi models is legendary: Above all, the cult mobile Manta. The big name now returns with the Opel Insignia GSi. The athlete can be fired either by a bi-turbo diesel or a turbo gasoline engine.

GSi against GTI - an eternal duel, which probably experienced its peak with the Manta in the mid-1980s. For a long time it was quiet about the sports versions of the Opel series, but now returns with the Opel Insignia GSi a big name. The vehicle can be ordered now. The sedan "Grand Sport" now starts at 45,595 euros. If you want to drive the station wagon "Sports Tourer", you have to top with exactly 1.000 Euro.

In the limousine fueled for the 210 hp engine entry-level diesel. The 2-liter BiTurbo diesel engine brings its maximum torque of 480 Nm already at 1,500 rpm on the crankshaft. Who wants more power, for there is the 47,800 euros available from Grand Sport with a 260 hp 2-liter turbo gasoline engine. An 8-speed automatic is flanged to both engines, which can also be switched by means of a steering wheel paddle. In addition, both versions have adaptive 4-wheel drive with torque vectoring, on the 20-inch Alus stick extra grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires, there is a lowering of 10 millimeters and a particularly dynamic tuned FlexRide chassis.

The powerful petrol engine accelerates the GSi from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds. Only at 250 km / h is sealed off electronically. The engine should be content to 100 kilometers with 8.6 liters. For diesel, this value is even only 7.3 liters / 100 km.
