In a few months Mazda will unveil its new generation of 2 and prepare for the arrival of the future city that will build on the very attractive Hazumi Concept revealed in March, the Japanese manufacturer offers us to meet with a new member the SkyActiv family, 1.5 L diesel.
This new 1.5 L diesel generator propellant is derived from L4 2.2 SKYACTIV-D clean diesel we already know about the CX-5 and Mazda6. Each cylinder has associated piezo injectors bowls piston oval. They are located so as to distribute the fuel so as to limit contact with the cylinder walls. In terms of cooling system, each cylinder is surrounded by a water jacket. Cooling technology is also equipped with numerous valves to promote good temperature control zone and by the motor depending on operating conditions.
This engine delivers a power of 105 hp at 4,000 rev / min and a torque of 250 Nm available between 1,500 and 2,500 rev / min. This block 1.5 L L4 works as version 2.2 with a low compression ratio for a diesel engine as amounted to 14.8: 1, but there is however a little higher than the compression ratio of 2.2 Skyactiv L-D (14.1: 1) to accommodate any engine displacement.
To ensure mechanical licensing, Mazda chose turbocharging with variable geometry air / integrated into the intake manifold water.
This engine complies with the Euro 6 standards exemption from famous treatment system NOx SCR type and replaced by a combined system of two EGR valves, ie a high pressure EGR valve on the exhaust manifold and valve EGR low pressure downstream of the particulate filter.
To find an explanation of the operating principle of the SKYACTIV-D engine, there is this short video.
This engine promises performance, approval, low power consumption and low CO2 emissions and particulates.
