Ford updates its Explorer for the 2016 model with a new level of high-end finish and a long list of updates that customers have requested.
The new design is a subtle update that works to improve the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the SUV five percent. With a new grille and redesigned rear spoiler are new headlights with LED light bars and new taillights. Active grille shutters also close to the speed to reduce drag.
The new-for-2016 Platinum trim level is the market up-Explorer with 20-inch wheels, satin chrome accents and a unique satin chrome grille with unique runners on the side and integrated exhaust pipes.
Ford seeks to provide a true upscale experience with the Platinum model that comes with all the options available, including some new features like 180-degree cameras front and rear (with integrated washers), an Sensing for you whether you are next to a pillar in a parking garage, an enhanced version of Ford Active Park assist system and a hands-free liftgate that opens only with the movement of your foot.
Platinum also come as standard models with 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 brand, with 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, which was previously only available on the Sport model.
Available on the same basic model, Ford now also offers the EcoBoost four-cylinder with 4 wheel drive - something not possible before.
Inside there are many updates including the Platimm trim. There are real wood, brushed aluminum and leather coats all surfaces with a single point of design. And to show how this model is special, he gets a silver Ford logo (not blue) on the wheel.
