2016 VW Golf 7 Review

New engine, even more economical and even better infotainment systems. These are the attributes that apply to the facelift of the VW Golf 7 to the versions three and five-door as well as GTI, GTE and Variant. What this means in detail, you will find in our news.

Visually, it is not much new at the VW Golf 7. Here you have only a few details on the radiator grille and the thicker tailpipes for the GTI somewhat sharpened. But that is exactly what makes the bestseller from Wolfsburg so successful. No design play, but solid look, you can rely on. New are the full-LED headlights, which replace the xenon burners. In addition, there are also LED taillights for all versions, which can optionally be replaced with full LED taillights with animated turn signal.

Underneath the hood there are already more novelties. For example, the fresh 1.5 TSI Evo from the EA211 engine family, from the four-cylinder turbo 150 hp and maximally 250 Nm spring. Thanks to cylinder shut-off, consumption should be only 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers. Also a new Bluemotion version with 130 hp will be launched, which is to shine with a standard consumption of only 4.6 liters. For the GTI there is more power in both versions: the standard version now brings it to 230 hp, as a performance variant the two-liter engine develops a strong 245 hp. The 6-speed DSG is now increasingly being replaced by the new 7-speed DSG.

In the interior, there is even more technology and more assistance systems. The City emergency emergency function with automatic pedestrian detection and the storage assistant in combination with the DSG are supplemented by the Trailer Assist. Who wants, instead of the now 9.2-inch touchscreen with gesture control in the infotainment system Discover Pro also a so-called Active Info Display with 12.3-inch monitor can be installed. The radio control can be changed via the gesture control or you can scroll through the menu.

The Discover Pro system does without any buttons, since the control is only done via wipes, the touch function and speech input. The main functions are placed on five capacitive fields on the left display edge.
