Today, a 2013 GMC Terrain Denali colored Quicksilver Metallic left the assembly line at GM CAMI, marking the millionth vehicle manufactured on the platform of the GMC crossover compact and Equinox Chevrolet. This milestone reaffirms the company's commitment to the category of compact crossovers and the leading position it occupies.
Equinox and Terrain vehicles were both launched in 2009 as 2010 models. The combined sales of the two vehicles in the United States and Canada have increased every year since, having more than doubled from 152,259 units in 2009 to 317,776 units in 2011.
"Canadians are looking for compact crossovers, said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. Buyers of vehicles Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain have various preferences, but a common need for space and versatility. With Equinox and Terrain vehicles, we can meet these basic needs while providing two very different groups with their own options. '
