"This is an evolution." This sentence is perfectly suited to introduce the slightly redesigned Audi has to offer its flagship, the A8.
On the aesthetic level, this update notice (for those who have a sharpened eye, admittedly) with a new front bumper with redesigned air inlets and now interconnected in a "Single Frame" but more angular grille also and especially with the new Matrix LED projectors.
In this barbarous name hides not small lamps which avoid the bullets but one of the most leading technology market: composed of 25 individually controlled LEDs, they automatically adapt to the road for maximum visibility at all times. The GPS can anticipate turns and adjust the beam in perfect timing. And of course, the oncoming cars will never dazzled. But that's not all! Combined with the night vision camera, they can warn a careless pedestrian flashing in his approach.
At the rear, alterations are also very contained, yet the new design of the lights and chrome bar offer a second life to a sad post on the previous version (but it's still very simple, we are okay!)
On the inside, new materials and finishes are appearing but the overall design remains the same, as the list of comfort options, which includes (the long version) rear seats worthy of the finest companies air, where it has massaging seats, heated, ventilated, with sleeping position and footrest, HD video screen. The luxury! Only thing missing is the hostess!
The changes are more numerous on the mechanical part. All motors now comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard and earn a few extra horses to pass, and the range consists of the following blocks:
Diesel: 3.0l TDI with 258 hp and 385 hp 4.2l TDI
Species: 3.0l TFSI 310 hp V8 bi-turbo 4.0l TFSI 435 hp
The long version (A8 L) has for its right to W12 6.3L TFSI 500 hp and S8 sports will have a V8 4.0 TFSI with 520 hp.
For those who have nothing to do with all this power, the hybrid version is still on the agenda: it is based on a combination of the 2.0 TFSI with an electric motor for a combined output of 245 hp. The birds will appreciate its CO2 emissions of just 147 g / km, and the driver will enjoy limited to 6.3 L/100 km.
Rates remain at the level of benefits, with an entry-level to € 74 500 (Germany, after a few hundred extra euros in France).
The vintage 2014 A8 will be unveiled at Frankfurt in a few days.
