Saleen back in business. The American manufacturer-trainer opportunity this weekend at Pebble Beach and the various events that are related to unveil his new car, the Saleen Mustang George Follmer Edition.
This is the side of Laguna Seca than green lawns of Pebble Beach that had to look these days if you wanted to discover this new proposal based on Ford Mustang. But why George Follmer Edition?
You do not know that name? You know nothing of the history of this George is not a king? I must confess that if I knew the name of the American pilot, I was not able to tell you and it took me for a ride on the web (U.S. cars and Wiki site) to tell you. George Follmer was an American pilot famous in the 60s and 70s. He has driven in a Shadow F1 during the 1973 season, ran the Indianapolis 500 winner was the famous Can-Am championship in 1972 and ran some length in NASCAR.
The car sits on aluminum rims "vintage" Minilite "by 19 inches and features a sports frame adapted to the circuit including adjustable dampers reinforced, shortcuts and strengthened springs and braking suitable for intensive use.
Mechanically, this Saleen MgFe is powered by the 5.0 L V8 Coyote but in a more punchy version of its power as it is estimated around 470 hp thanks to a new reprogrammed ECU, a new air intake, new butterflies and a line exhaust made to allow the V8 to breathe and wake the neighbors more accustomed to quiet his Japanese L4. The V8 engine is exclusively associated with a 6-speed manual. The interior adopts a specific finish with a red two-tone leather upholstery black / white stitching and some with embroidery or logos Saleen.
This Saleen Mustang George Follmer Edition goes on sale in early spring 2014 at a price close to $ 70,000 (€ 52,500). This Mustang will be joined in the coming months by two other "muscle cars" historic currently developing a Saleen Camaro and Mark Donohue Edition Saleen Barracuda Savage Edition.
