Hyundai ix35 FCEV start of production - After testing with the Hyundai sedan FCX Clarity hydrogen, behold, the South Korean automaker Hyundai announced the start of production of its Tucson ix35 model factory in Ulsan, South Korea.
For Hyundai, it is a new assembly line dedicated to the production of vehicles powered by an electric motor that is powered by hydrogen. This is a first in the automotive world. Last week, the first model assembled at this factory was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
Hyundai Tucson ix FCEV the 3rd generation is powered by an electric motor of 136 hp (100 kW), combined with a lithium-ion battery developed by LG which draws its power via a fuel cell, which generates electricity with the help of hydrogen. For security purposes, hydrogen compressed to 700 bars is stored in two tanks double thickness.
Very limited production
The Tucson ix FCEV production will be a very small scale. Thus, the first 17 prototypes will be delivered to the city of Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as that of Skäne, Sweden. Subsequently, Hyundai collect data experiences on the ground and make the necessary corrections.
If all goes as planned, Hyundai has assembled 1000 hydrogen vehicles by 2015.
Side figures from Hyundai ix35 FCEV:
- acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 12.5 seconds
- maximum speed of 160 km / h
- autonomy of 594 km
- emissions only H2O
