At a time when almost all car manufacturers in the world produce a large part of their range of vehicles for China local factories established in the context of joint ventures , brand says no to Chinese manufacturing .
There is no German premium that all industrial sites in China but Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota . Tokuo Fukuichi , the boss of Lexus says that the company will not give priority to quantity over quality . Furthermore, he explained that the standards established in China in terms of quality of work, reliability and durability are not currently correspond to those of the Japanese company as well as what customers expect from the brand.
Accordingly , Lexus will continue to import PRC cars ( at high prices because the cars are surcharged ) that are produced in Japan in factories that meet the full set of specifications of the manufacturer.
We may be surprised such a decision especially when you know that China is the second largest market for the company after the United States. It seems that Lexus one is very attached to the quality of cars produced even if it entails additional costs for sale !
