VW E-Golf: Intelligent System gives power tips helps

In the compact class the golf is still the stag. This is a position that is still a long way off in terms of electric mobility in Wolfsburg. The update of the VW E-Golf is now to change this and allow up to 300 kilometers range. In order to achieve this, an intelligent system that gives power tips helps.

Also after the model maintenance will be the VW E-Golf available from the 13th of April to a basic price of 35,900 euros. Under the hood, however, there will be three major changes: on the one hand the capacity of the battery rises from 24.2 to 35.8 kilowatt hours (kWh), which is almost 50 percent, and on the other hand, an intelligent system is supposed to give power tips and so on Helping to maximize the range and a stronger engine is also on board. The range has theoretically increased from 190 to a whopping 300 kilometers due to the greater battery capacity. This is, of course, only a NEFZ value, which is a laboratory result under best conditions, which in practice will never be achieved.

An intelligent system is to contribute to the extension of the range of coverage, so that the navigation system can detect whether a curve, a turn-off, a roundabout or a new tempolimit will follow, and then display the "foot from gas" indication Before the driver has seen the obstacle at all.

A lot has also been done with the drive. The electric motor is now supposed to deliver 136 hp instead of the 115 hp of its predecessor. The torque is also upwards from 270 to 290 Nm, which are known to occur with the electric car starting from the first revolution. This makes it possible for the electrically powered Golf to reach 100 km / h in just 9.6 seconds. However, the end is already at 150 km / h, because then the engineers are able to accelerate the acceleration so that the power consumption is not high. A newly developed heat pump also helps to save energy, which uses both the heat from the ambient air and the waste heat from the drive components, thus increasing the range by 30%. On the other hand, the charging takes a long time to a household socket (2.3 KW). Due to the increased battery capacity, it can take up to 15 hours before the power store is fully charged again. It can be done more quickly at a public charging column, which presses up to 40 kilowatt DC per hour in the battery, which would shorten the charging process to under one hour. An app helps you find the next column.
